Set against the natural beauty of the Mornington Peninsula, this completed landscape in Rye captures the essence of refined coastal living. Designed with a strong focus on texture, structure, and native planting, the outdoor space strikes a seamless balance between function and form.

Anchoring the design is a striking swimming pool, seamlessly integrated into the landscape and framed by warm spotted gum decking—an inviting space for relaxation and outdoor entertaining. Bluestone paving runs throughout the site, grounding the space with timeless appeal, while limestone cladding introduces a tactile contrast that echoes the coastal surrounds.

A key architectural element is the custom-built spotted gum arbour, offering both sculptural presence and welcome shade. Nearby, a curved concrete bench wraps around a central firepit—thoughtfully designed to encourage gathering and enjoyment throughout the seasons. This combination of robust materials and organic shapes creates a sense of flow and intimacy within the garden.

The planting scheme favours hardy Australian natives, selected for their resilience, low maintenance, and ability to reflect the natural rhythms of the surrounding environment. A layered mix of grasses, shrubs, and groundcovers delivers year-round interest while supporting local biodiversity.

The project was a collaborative effort between landscape designer Seyffer Designs and expert pool builder LDR Pools. Together, we’ve delivered an outdoor retreat that is as practical as it is visually striking—an enduring space that connects people with nature through thoughtful design and natural materials.
